FAQ
GENERAL
What does “Dalisay” mean?
The word “Dalisay” [da-LEE-sahy] is a Tagalog adjective for pure and refined.
Rooted in family, the brand takes its name from the founder’s mother’s maiden name, honoring heritage with every design.
Who and where are your products made?
Our current catalog is manufactured in Pampanga, Philippines. As we grow as a brand, we will continue to source artisan products mainly in the Philippines, making it proudly pinoy made.
PRODUCTS & CARE
What kind of wood do you use?
We use acacia wood which is sourced from the Philippines’ Region 4.
Are your products food safe?
Yes! Acacia wood is naturally food-safe. Its dense grain and natural oils help resist moisture and limit bacteria growth (The Spruce, 2023; RST Brands, 2025). Studies also show that hardwoods, including acacia, contain natural antimicrobial compounds that can inhibit bacterial growth on the surface (IFT/Wiley, 2016; ResearchGate, 2025).
How do I care for and clean acacia wood?
To keep your pieces safe and long-lasting, wash them by hand with mild soap and warm water, then dry thoroughly with a clean cloth.
Do I need to oil my acacia wood items?
For extra care, occasional oiling keeps the wood smooth, hydrated, and resistant to drying out. Use a food-grade mineral oil or beeswax once a month, or when the surface looks dull to maintain the wood’s smooth finish and durability. Apply a thin coat, let it soak in, and wipe away any excess.
Can your bowls and plates go in the dishwasher or microwave?
No. Acacia wood should not be put in the dishwasher. The high heat and strong detergents can dry out the wood, cause warping, and strip away its natural oils.
Can acacia wood be used in the microwave?
No. Microwaves can cause wood to crack, warp, or release natural oils unevenly. Always use your acacia pieces for serving and preparation, not heating.
Are all items handcrafted? Will there be variations?
Yes. Every piece we offer is manually shaped and made by our local artisans in the Philippines. Because each item is handcrafted, no two pieces are exactly alike. There will be slight variations in color, grain, or shape that are natural and part of what makes your homeware unique. We proudly pledge to only sell handmade items and never mass-produced products.
Will my acacia wood homeware change over time?
Yes, because each piece is handcrafted and made from natural wood, slight variations in color or grain are normal. With regular use and care, the wood develops a unique patina that adds to its character.

SUSTAINABILITY & IMPACT
Is your packaging eco-friendly?
We make a conscious effort to only use either paper or recyclable materials from raw materials to actual packaging.
How do you support local artisans and what percentage of profits go back to the community?
We commit a portion of our profits to give back directly to the artisans and communities we work with. The exact percentage is tied to the business’ performance, and we will openly share this at the end of each year for full transparency.
As D&Co grows, our goal is to increase this contribution annually. We want to help build safer, stronger spaces where their skills can thrive and their legacy can continue with pride, passed from one generation to the next.
